I visited Easter Island a little over 10 years ago, and ever since, I regret not buying a small replica moai as a souvenir. (I bought a 20cm-tall wooden Tangaroa statue in the Cook Islands on the same trip, and always thought a matching moai would have made a great pair of bookends or something.)
From time to time I've searched online, but was never able to find what I was looking for. Why don't any of the craftspeople on the island sell online? Or is it just that I can't find the sites by searching in English? Just this evening I came across a couple of photos via Google Maps that show exactly the kind of thing I wish I had bought...
Does anyone have any tips for how I might go about buying one of these?
