Can you take mass transit to the house from Tempe (or anywhere in the area)?
There is no "Frank Lloyd Wright Museum." You may be referring to Taliesin West which was his home and school. I used the Valley Metro trip planner, and it did not find a bus stop within 1 mile walking distance. The entrance road is at the intersection of E Cactus Rd and N Frank Lloyd Blvd in NE Scottsdale. The Valley Metro system map shows the closest bus on Shea Blvd at FLW Blvd, which is probably a little over a mile to the site.Edited: 20 November 2016, 22:01
Thank you for researching that. I appreciate it very much.
Taliesin West is one of the best tours anywhere, IMO. I recommend the Behind the Scenes Tour or the Desert / Insights Tour.
Perhaps you could take Uber or Lyft?
Be sure to buy advance tickets online. I've seen many people arrive only to be told the tours for that day are sold out.
Great information and suggestions! Thank you so much!
Another note on Taliesin West. In order to see anything other than the bookstore, you have to be on a tour. You are not permitted to wander about on your own.
IMO the best tour is the Night Lights tour but it is only offered on Fridays. Behind the Scenes is next best. There are discounts on the Insights tour on Tue/Wed.
Thank you! Unfortunately we won't be there on a Friday. That would have been great. I love night time tours. If you're ever in D.C. The nighttime tours of the monuments are outstanding.
