Four adults will be staying in a private home in Sierra Vista starting on the 14th. Will be renting SUV and driving around. Love Nature, History, and Artisan shops. Just looking for ideas on must sees.
How long will you be in the area?
Bisbee is relatively close, and that meets a lot of your interests. Tubac (artist colony) may also be worth visiting for you, with Tumcacori next door (old Spanish mission) and Patagonia along the way. A tour of the wineries in the Sonoita and Elgin areas is also always fun.
And be sure to get up to Tucson, for at least a full day. There's quite a bit to do.
There are three accesses to nature areas where highways from Sierra Vista cross the San Pedro River. The ghost town of Fairbank is located where Hwy 82 crosses the San Pedro NE of Sierra Vista. The town and parking are on the east side of the river. Next to the south is the ghost town of Charleston. Charleston Road leaves SV in the NE a few blocks north of the intersection of Hwys 90 and 92. Further south where Hwy 90 crosses the San Pedro is the San Pedro House of the Nature Conservancy. The entire river is a designated riparian area from the border north.
Sounds wonderful, thank you.
Tuba offers great shopping. Close to SV.
