Indian Visas

We are cruising from Abu Dhabi to India and back in January, and then flying in to Delhi for a land trip. Finding it very difficult to find what visa we need and where to obtain it. Please can anyone advise.

Hi. It depends on which port you will arrive at in India. There is e-Visa which is valid for entry at three ports at present; Goa, Mangalore and Cochin.

Is the Delhi part a separate trip?

Yes. The Cruise element takes us to Goa and Mumbai. We then return to Abu Dhabi [via non-Indian ports] and from there we fly to Delhi . It seems that we cannot use E-Visa but we need a multi entry tourist visa. It looks like we can apply on line and then send in appropriate documents and receive the Visa by post. Not going until the New Year, so plenty of time! I have emailed the Visa Department at the Indian Embassy twice and they reply the same day - even on Sunday - but they are standard replies and do not answer questions, just give the info that is on the website.

You have to apply for a Regular Tourist Visa with multiple entry. Take a look at this Visa Guide which has all the information you will need. There is help with the application form with a direct link to the website where you complete the application. All done online then you can print and send by post
