KSRTC buses and getting from Mysore to Kerala

Hi, are all KSRTC buses air conditioned? Is it best to book longer distances beforehand ie online? Are they punctual? Is baggage extra?

Any other good options other than coach for getting from Mysuru to Kannur/Payyanur area of Kerala? (would consider any area but need good beaches/backwater nearby and not much longer trip ie 4-6 hours).

Thanks

Not all KSRTC buses are air conditioned. KSRTC “Airavat” buses are the A/C ones. They are punctual and no charges for extra luggage. If on a weekend, it is advised to book in advance as the seats gets filled with weekend travellers and there are only a very few services in that sector. If on a weekday, you can get seats by walking in. You can check seat availability and book on www.ksrtc.in.

There are services to Kannur or you can check to Kanhangad as well. Bekal fort near Kanhangad is a popular tourist spot.

Claire - there is an overnight train available, departing Mysore at 23:30 on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

The journey takes more time, but you ought be asleep for most of it.

Conventional wisdom is that you can safely book a couple of days in advance, on the ground in Mysore.

>> Is baggage extra?

Personal luggage is inclusive of the fare.
