"Karol Bagh" vs "Gaffar Market" vs "Sadar Bazaar" vs...

Hello all!

Was looking for some advice on getting the best shopping experiences in New Delhi within a day or two.

Looking for mostly:

- Cheap clothing and shoes (it's ok if they are replicas).

- Souvenirs of India

- Luggage

What I have found in terms of areas so far:

- Karol Bagh

- Gaffar Market

- Sadar Bazaar

- Palika Bazaar Road

- Khan market

- Nehru Place

- Balli Maran

- Sarojini Nagar

I've some info in other posts, but some may be dated (over 5 years old).

What are the best spots, with the most variety, as to maximize our time in New Delhi?

(Maybe even if we rank them, for our fellow TripAdvisor members)

Thanks in advance to everyone!

Karolbagh-Big market for cloths, shoes, accessories, bags etc, both Delihite and tourist loves to visit here.

Gaffar Market-Part of Karolbagh market, earlier famous for electronics gray market.

Sadar Bazar-Wholesale market mainly for house hold things.

Palika Bazar-In CP,for cloths and electronics.

Khan Market-Not a cheap place, mostly branded and upmarket shops, have some good eatries.

Nehru Place-Biggest market in India for computers and accessories.

Ballimaran-In old Delhi, mainly famous for wholesale market for specs, sunglasses, lens and accessories.

Sarojni Market-Famous among youths for cheap cloths and fashion accessories, but not as big as Karolbagh or Lajpath.

For a tourist point of view Karolbagh is your best bet.For souvenirs my suggestion will be varios state emporiums situated state emporium building and Rajiv Ghandhi Handicraft building ,both situated at Baba Kharag singh road, walking from Cannaught place.Another place can be central cottage industry at Janpath, near Janpath metro station.Avoid private shops, lots of them are in Janpath.

Hello ChrisRichards00,

I throughly agree with the above answers. I have been to Delhi a lot and have shopped there a lot. I am not a local, but a traveller, so I only know Delhi this way. These are really good descriptions of the various markets. I also would advise a visit to Chandni Chowk market too. Lots of really interesting stuff there too.

Just a warning, the luggage you will by is not going to be the best quality, so just be aware.

Would personally recommend Sarojini Nagar & Connaught Place (Janpath & Baba Khadak Singh Marg) which would take care of all your requirements.

Sadar Bazar & Chandi Chowk are wholesale markets while Karol Bagh is good for Indian Ethnic clothes.

Wait for some posts from Destination Experts on Delhi as they share very valuable information.

You can go for Karol Bagh for clothing and shoes. And undoubtedly, in balli maran you would be able to find hundreds of sunglasses. Personally, I like Sarojini Nagar as the best for clothing preferences.
