One night in Kandy

Hey all,

We plan to drive down from galle to kandy on August 17th morning, stay the night and leave for colombo on the 18th. What should we do while in kandy? I heard it’s beautiful. Any tea plantation that we should visit? Also any suggestions on where we should stay? Price is not an issue but I’m trying to find a place with amazing views.

We can even spend the whole day of 18th August in kandy and leave for colombo in evening.

Also any shopping recommendations for Kandy? Any place that is great for finding artsy stuff for home? Or any local goods that we should explore? Looking for artifacts for our new place.

Lots of hotels with good views there, Hilltop as the name says is a start. Hantana tea museum has a plantation nextdoor. The Gardens are a not-to-miss next to Tooth Temple and dance show.

KCC has good shops but also the many bazaar streets adjoining it...

In the evening watch the Kandyan dancing at 5 pm at Kandy Lake Club. Wonderful costumes and ends up with fore walking.

Want a unique place to stay? I have never seen anything like this in my life!

Ok as of now our plan seems to be book a car to get us from

Galle to Kandy- 17th August

Kandy to Dambulla to Sigiriya and drive down to colombo by 18th August evening

Does this make sense or should we change it?

Well it means a few hours only in Kandy, 17th from 3 PM. 18th you need to leave 8 AM in order to climb Sigriya before the heat.

Hi,

Take a car from your starting destination and when you are on the way to kandh you can go to pinnawala elephany orphanage and spice gardens in mawanella so it will be very enjoyable as you can go on a elephant ride and get a knowledge in the spice garden.

Thanks,
