Considering 5 nights in Riasn- recommended day trips?

We're doing 2 nights in Dubrovnik and then plan to drive to Risan to have as a base for 5 days or so. Wondering if there are any restaurant recommendations in Risan and/or day trips or places to visit in the area? We are a couple mid 30's and mostly going for the beach.

For sure go to Kotor! It is really close - 17-18 km. It is great! You could go to Budva as well - 40 km. Herceg Novi is 26 km away. All of them are beautiful. You could go to Cetinje and Negush's Mausoleum in Lovcen Mountain.

Perast is lovely and worth a trip. Take a boat trip to the island with the church. I hope you won't be disappointed by the beaches. It's not a sandy beach place - think gravel instead. That said, the Bay of Kotor is great for swimming - just use a jetty and plunge in.

5 nights in Risan will be very very boring and you will need to spend most of your time driving out of that area to do activities/ eat in nice places and general sightseeing. Risan will not be a very rewarding destination for your time in Montenegro.

Thank you for that Gina - is there another town you would recommend? We do prefer to stay in an area that is more relaxed, with access for swimming and nice restaurants. Ok with taking taxis in the evening as well

Kotor is a must! Maybe a bit late for this now but rather than Budva, I'd go to Sveti Stefan. It's much more beautiful and unique, though Budva's old town is nice probably not worth the separate trip if you've already been to Dubrovnik and Kotor.

Yes, I agree with Gina. Basing yourself in Risan is an unusual choice.
