Catch domestic flight at 4:20PM in Rio(GIG)from Ilha Grande?

Should I do it? Is there a safer way?

Catching the 10AM Ferry I could probably get a private car at Angra at 11:30AM and assuming 3 hour ride, I could get the airport around 2:30PM?

Otherwise I would have the leave a day early :-(

There is a 10PM flight also but it is going to be very tiring and may still have to catch the 10AM ferry unless there is another one a few hours later that would allow me to catch the 10PM flight.

I would leave a day early or take the 10PM flight. Safer!

Cheers!

Why don´t you catch the ferry to Mangaratiba at 8:30 am? It´s much closer to Rio than Angra. It takes 1:20 h and from Mangaratiba you can get a private car to Rio. From Mangaratiba to Rio Int´l Airport it takes around 2 to 3 hours. You´ll arrive at the airport around 1pm.

Take the 10:30 p.m. flight, which, given the circumstances, would be far less stressful.

Since I have the same problem, I was checking the possibility of taking the ferry to Magaratiba, but couldn't find any at 8.30 am. Where can I check that? Btw, what did you decide to do at the end?

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm joining my friends on Ihla Grande from 5 Feb and have a week or so extra flying into Rio earlier.

Any recommendations on what to do which is fairly chilled?

Has anyone spent time in Mangaratiba? I'm playing with the idea of going there beforehand and then catching the ferry over with them.

I did think about going diving somewhere but not sure about how good the diving is around Rio/Ihla Grande. My friends don't dive so could use this time to do some diving?

I'm not keen on travelling around too much because I do just want to chill and picked Mangaratiba as a key to this query since it's the ferry port to Ihla Grande.

All thoughts appreciated.

D

Ilha Grande (Big Island) is 95 miles southwest of Rio de Janeiro. The island is a largely undeveloped protected area and noted for its beautiful beaches and hillsides covered in lush tropical forests. There are no cars and no banks on Ilha Grande, so bring cash with you since not all hotels, shops, and restaurants accept credit cards. The largest village on the island is Vila do Abraão, where most of the visitor facilities are located, and can be reached from the mainland by local ferries and catamarans.
