Does anyone know of anywhere that a service will be held in or near Nagasaki on the 25th of April?
Thanks in advance
Was hopeful that it was just poor Google skills on my part. Will be the first ANZAC day for me in a long time without a service. Will just set alarm for sunrise and do my own thing.
I don't know if this helps. I found this historic marker of one of the :POW camps in Nagasaki, 14B. https://goo.gl/maps/vHkVYR344oC2 Maybe you (and others) would want to visit and pay your respects there.
Here's information about another camp, #2: mansell.com/pow_resources/…fuku_2_main.htm This page has a link to a Google Satelite view of a memorial: https://goo.gl/maps/SALmUEp16AN2 But there's construction in the street view and I couldn't see the memorial: https://goo.gl/maps/XUagHC74VCq
More about the memorial for camp #2. It's recent; maybe that's why it's not on Google street view:: https://www.stripes.com/lifestyle/near-nagas…

Thanks a lot.
I am not on facecrap so can't check a few of those links but the others I will check out definitely. The better half is Afrikans so is just me with a connection to the date and day.
Once again I appreciate all the TA help
JustJessPerth, I am sure your respectful thoughts on the day and taking the time to remember will be a very acceptable way to honour our servicemen and women. Good on you for thinking about this
Hi Just Jess. We’re heading to the plaque commemorating the site of Fukuoka Camp #14b.
#2 is too hard to get to and 14b is on the other side of the station. A 20 minute walk for us.
Thanks to Roger for your info - we were wondering too. Can’t find a list of those who died but did find the 24 Australian survivors.
We’ll be aiming for dawn - Might see you there!
Still April 24 here in the US. Glad I could help with remembrances.
