Vyborg

Hi,

We are planning a 3 day trip to Vyborg from Finland next summer and looking for some advice.

1. Any good Hotel for Finns ?

2. How unsafe is it in the evenings for a normal 30 year old couple ?

3. Anything to keep in mind regarding the food.

4. Who is organising trips to the ww2 battlefields outside Vyborg (in english,Finnish or swedish) ?

5. Anything else that you can warn/recomend us about ?

My only experience with Vyborg is that my parents went there 20 years ago and then it was pretty unsafe and there were restaurants you should avoid unless you like spending the next day in the toilet.

Surely safe, most things that were 20 years ago are irrelevant now. Perfectly safe, restaurants nice and OK. Enjoy!

1. I don't know what is "good for Finns" but if you check the reviews here https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g298511-Vyborg_Vyborgsky_District_Leningrad_Oblast_Northwestern_District-Hotels.html

you will find that many reviews were written by Finns. Maybe that helps. Or you check AirBnB if you don't like the reviews.

Thanks for the answers.

Btw what I ment for a finn is just that it is a hotel where you don't are an outsider who all look on and talks about. Been to those kind of places beforw and wan't to avoid them in the future. :)

You know, i saw suomi people everywhere in Vyborg on weekends. You will not be alone, really. Many Finns arrives Vyborg and St.Petersburg to spend week-end. So choose any good looking hotel.

Central parts of Vyborg are pretty safe even at late afternoon.

Food is similar what i found in Finland, there not much difference. Until you are looking for anything true russian cuisine. Just do not visit durty looking and very cheap places.

I would say everything has changed during last 20 years.
