Dinner and local music suggestions

My husband and i are travelling to St Petersburg on a cruise in a few weeks. We are in town for 3 days and have hired a private guide to see the sights and to accompany us in the evenings. We prefer to eat at local spots and would also like to go somewhere to listen to music. I think i read about The Hat bar on TA. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Not quite sure what your price range is for local spots to eat at, but Teremok is a fast-food blini (crepe) place that is quick and tasty. There tends to be a lot of street performers playing music, especially by the Church of the Savior on Blood.

certainly a good start especially during the day - thanks. Looking for local dinner spots - "sit down". Don;t want to spend a fortune but do like good food and am willing to spend. Not interested in going to the well known tourist spots that most guides would recommend. In other words - where do you go for a nice dinner?

My favourite is the Suliko on Vossantia. Warm place, great service, low music (places can be loud) Georgian. Most/all staff and kitchen are from Georgia. Sometimes full, no tables available.

You could try 'The Idiot,' my next place to visit. Joshua Hammer NYT liked it. My Russian wife cooks better than any restaurant anywhere, so I never suggest going out. I wait for her to say something.

You'll certainly find something on Rubenstein Street. There's a good wine bar there too.

Otherwise, walk around, if a restaurant through the window is nearly full, that's your place. Grab and table. Menu outside.

Good luck.
