Marinsky Theatre

Travelling to SPB June 2018. Wanting to see a ballet at Marinsky Theatre can you tell whether travelling from Sennaya Sq to Teatralnaya Sq. the K186/K350 mini bus and Bus 70 and 71 how often do they go and what time do they return to the square at night. Any other suggestions on getting to see a ballet, for two old pensioners would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

I'd go to Mariinsky by one of them but on the way back take a bus 22/27 (bus stop is near Mariinsky II) to metro station "Admiralteiskaya", next stop is Sennaya Pl./ Sadovaya, 45 Rub.

Thanks Elena your information is a big help. Is Marinsky 2 and 1 near each other. I am wanting to see one of the classical ballets.

The two are connected by a suspended bridge. Here's a link with more information:

Good luck.

Aeolis is right saying both buildings are linked by the bridge across Krukov canal. But it's completely architectural issue. Mariinsky 1 (old building) overlooks Theatre Sq. & Mariinsky 2 is located behind it just across the canal in 1-min walk.

The Mariinsky's schedule for June '18 will not be known until next April or May.

You should also consider the Mikhailovsky. It's a somewhat smaller, more intimate theatre - but the standards of performance are every bit as high as at the Mariinsky.
