Day trip help!

Hi a friend and I are travelling to Timisoara beginning of March for 3 days. Looking to potentially do a day trip to maybe somewhere within Romania or to Serbia or Hungary! Can any one shed any information of recommended places or if you’ve been to one of the bordering countries before? Thanks.

You could do a trip to Corvin castle in Hunedoara (about 3 1/2 hours west of Timisoara), it’s very impressive.

Train to Oradea. A lovely under-rated city. Take a look at some images.

Will you be renting a car or travelling by public transport? Also, are you more interested in nature or history?

Best options would be:

- Oradea (maybe + Arad) - 2.5-3 hours by car

- Corvin Castle (+ Densuș Church and, if you are interested, Sarmizegetusa ruins) - 2.5-3 hours by car

- Cheile Nerei National Park (a really nice area with easy hikes) - 2.5 hours by car

- Novi Sad in Serbia - 2.5 hours by car, but it's unlikely you will find a company that is okay with crossing the border with Serbia and public transport links are inexistent

There is also Szeged in Hungary, which has the advantage of being only 2 hours away, but in my opinion, if you'd like to see this kind of city, then just go to Oradea, as it's nicer.
