I would like to know how much money is enough for a week in Mauritius for a family of 3. Currently booked accommodation with half board. Any recommendations?
Hi Ceon - welcome to the Mauritius forum. That's such a difficult question as everyone's spending habits are completely different. Prices of meals and drinks outside of your HB package in the hotel will be very high compared to buying the same drinks in a supermarket. Are you planning to hire a car during your stay or use a taxi every time you go out or make use of the local bus? Do you plan to do lots of excursions like catamaran trips, undersea walks etc.
Sorry for all the questions but it's impossible to give you a realistic figure without knowing more about your plans.

Yip planning to hire a car and do a few excursions like the catarman cruise, rum/sugartour etc.
You can pay for most big purchases like car hire, tours, souvenir shopping etc with your credit card. Car hire should be about Rs1200 per day for an entry level car. Cat trip is also around Rs1200 per person (great value!!!). You'll probably need some cash for purchases from beach vendors, tipping etc.
Which area are you staying?
Plenty of places for lunch then plus you can buy drinks and snacks from Spar supermarket.
You can use credit card to settle hotel bill if you have lunches there.
Work out how much you will need for excursions and any shopping, tips and any extras then you will have your answer.
Car hire can be paid by CC as can some excursions.
Do ask your bank what their CC charges are, they can add quite a bit.Edited: 15 June 2018, 10:11
