Uber dont operate in Mauritius. I Just put airport to Grand Baie into the app and no service available.

So can safely asssume they don't operate at all in Mauritius.

The idea has been discussed recently but is meeting opposition from the taxi drivers - no surprise there!

<<Members of the Federation of United Workers and the Federation of Taxi Hotels Association demonstrated in the capital in front of the building of Air Mauritius to say no to Uber this Thursday, October 18. That, even if the day before, they had the insurance of the adviser to the Office of Prime Minister [PMO], Ken Arian, that this service of taxi will not be established in Mauritius. >>

So no competition from Uber. It might have broken the taxi drivers monopoly but not to be unfortunately.

<< The Council of Ministers took the decision this Friday, October 19th. Service providers that operate like Uber will not be able to operate in Mauritius. Minister Nando Bodha announced on Friday, October 19, during a site visit to Terre-Rouge-Verdun.>>
