Hoi An

Just returned from a 3 week trip to Vietnam and Hoi An was by far the highlight. After busy, crazy days in Ho Chi Min, Hoi an was a nice break from the big city. Located on the coast it had the right mix of small town and beach influence. We traveled with Gate 1 tours and they made everything so easy. Our guide Tho was wonderful. From booking the Hoi An Pacific hotel, which was excellent to suggesting "Good Morning Vietnam" for real Italian food. We also had a great experience at an organic farm where we had a cooking lesson on making Vietnamese pancakes.

Hoi An by night is one of the prettiest city's we visited. With all the lanterns lighting up the town and river front it made for a great photo op experience

We've just come back from our first trip to Vietnam and loved HoiAn. Beware! There are are so many things to spend your money on. We ended up buying an extra bag to fit all our lanterns in. If you want to start your visit in a great way do the Tastes of HoiAn food tour with Neville. He explains so much about Vietnamese culture and you get to try foods you probably never would if you were by yourself. Stay as long as possible because you won't want to leave. Hope you all have a great time. We did and are already planning the next trip even though we've only been back for a week.

Nice post Biff,

The majority of people love Hoi an, as I do, but others find it commercialised. I don't think the knockers get out and about enough to enjoy the simple things Hoi an and it's surrounds have to offer. I am certainly looking forward to a few days there in May (for the 4th time).

Your post has started the juices flowing of people yet to visit, and of course people that have loved it, been bitten by the bug and are already planning their return.

Glad you enjoyed the experience.

We just arrived in Hoi An today and love it already but am a bit overwhelmed with the amount of Taylor's. Can anyone recommend a good one?
