From the airport to downtown,Wenchang by high speed railway, it just take you 17 min and cost you RMB 19, so cheap, so quickly. And then, you can take a taxi back to your Kampong from the station on downtown.
For other attraction, you can take the ferry from your Kampong and reach Dong Jiao Coconut forest for sightseeing and enjoy the fresh seafood; Also, you can visit Tong Gu Hill, Moon Bay, Ms. Song Qing Ling’s Ancestral House, etc.
Hi...thanks for your info.
I found out from other forum that you stay in Haikou.
Do you know are there any big coffee shops in haikou town (not those high class type)? My uncle went there before but he do not know the name of it...he told me there were few coffee shops around that area..quite crowded...they serve coffee, cakes, chicken fee, etc....i thought of going
there for teatime but do you have any ideas where is this place?
During my last visit I stayed at Dongjiao resort...so this time my trip
with my family are more of free n easy type....we will stay at the village in Wenchang....
In Haikou you will find "local" style tea houses that also serve coffee, chicken feet etc in all the main districts such as around Haifu Road, Jiefangxi Road and Guomao.
For the local style coffee shop, in my opinion, Fu Shan Coffee Shop would be the best, it is a chain store,I brought many friends and relatives from Sin and M’sia there for a coffee break, they all love it. However, the fee is a bit high, say RMB18/cup.Certainly, local style cakes and breads are available, but not so cheap..
Hello sher_99_ts (Kuala Lumpur)
Noted that you are going to stay in a village in Wenchang. Would like to inform you that the Chinese government' regulations regarding this:
" Foreigners and overseas Chinese who resides in domestic residents' homes in urban areas, are required to register with a valid passport either in person or by host within 24 hours upon arrival. In rural areas, registration is required within 72 hours. " The registration is to be done at the community police station.
I know many people forgot this. But I believe there is always a first time happening.
The train does not by-pass Wenchang. Just like you are staying in Sentul in Kuala Lumpur. You still have to take a taxi or bus from train station to Sentul.
Dear Sher T,
Greetings from Singapore..
My brother and I had just return from WENCHANG PROVINCE.
IIndeed, we were at QingLan Town, the ferry gateway to DongJiao.
Qinglan Kang (PORT) is like Singapore Changi Ferry Terminal to Johor, than Desaru. Going to DongJiao from Qinglan will cut yout travelling time by at least thirty(30) minutes.
I strongly suggest you visit the afternoon seafood market at the ferry pier,
buy your selection, spoilt for choice anyway, bring your purchase to your village home, alternatively have it cook at a nearby restaurant for a sumptous of meal.
Exploring Wenchang City, DongJiao and Qinjglan will occuppy your time
for at least three(3) full day. You will find it most enlightening and well explored. Is it safe? My answer is yes, do take all normal, sane necessary precautionary in any place in this world.
Do it soon before commercialisation set in which is very soon.
You may like to know the Rhu Area, not rural, had been earmarked for huge
By 2014, you will see the "explosion" of ecomony growth ( and its imminent now) in Wenchang Province. WHY, this is the location for CHINA fourth Space Centre, which is under contstruction, beginning August of 2010.
With the introduction of Hainan Fast Rail Services from Haikou to Sanya and major stopover along cities of the east coast of Hainan Island, the dynamic and magnitude of its potential growth is nothing but assured.
By the way if you read and speak mandarin, and Hainanese travelling on
the Public Air-con Buses is a breeze. Even to your home town of QINGLAN

Greetings from Singapore.
Indeed thank you for your enlightenment and knowledge.
By the way, how you called the areas around "Wenchang City".
For example my Ancestory village is ''Eh-Nor Siew, near to
"'Siang Ta See"".
Are they termed to be in the City of Wenchang or we had been
educated to learn and understand from our parent and Grandparent
as 'Woon-Shou Kwai'' in hainanese.
Is ''Kwai'' a province in Hainanese dialect.
It will be great to learn from your understanding.
Hope to receive your kind reply,
Chin Hsu, Leo.
