Local food is a very relative thing in Dubai since most people you will encounter will be Indian, Lebanese or Philipino.

For each of these, there are lots of excellent restaurants serving Indian, Lebanese (Arabic) and Philipino food.

Please view this for restaurants nearby

If you want real ethnic no frills food, head for Karama, Bur Dubai and Diera and even to residential areas like Mirdiff.

Leb food is mainly grilled meat and chicken - not spicy, with lots of salads and side-dishes like hummus, and baba ganosh. Usually eaten with Arabic bread.

The sweets are also nice and very sugary.

Very tasty and a safe choice if your stomach can not take too much culinary excitement :)

The prices will vary depending on where you go but in Times of Arabia you can get great mezes, which is lots of little side plate size dishes so you can tasta lots of different things (like Tapas in a Spanish restaurant)

If you go to Times of Arabia about £40 per head ex drinks but that will of course depend on what you eat.

They have sublime grilled lamb chops there - yummy
