Hi - ive been told the government taxis are the cheapest in duba. whats the best way to get hold of one other than just waiting on the street? is there a good app? tried the rta dubai app but couldnt figure out how to hail a cab :-(
There are a lot of threads already on here about DTC, RTA and their varied apps that may help your research.
If you don't want to hail a taxi by flagging down on the road, you could either call the RTA booking centre or speak to hotel, concierge, shop or property you may be at.
If you are looking at using a ride hailing app like Careem or Uber, you won't get the cheapest prices (as you're paying for the convenience, or possibly better vehicles or even surge pricing).
Careem App
Order the Hala taxi.
It also allows you to order food etc.
You can download the RTA App from here - this will allow you to order a taxi
Here is their link: https://noorride.com
But the cashback features are only available on their app.
Thank you Mathew. I’m here now and Careem Yalla has been my lifesaver. I’ll look at noir ride
Order from Careem app or flag down on street? same rate? I will be ordering south asian food from Bur dubai area too. so Careem app for both or the Noor app someone suggested above for taxi and food? need a dubai number right?
Edited: today, 06:00@ kst - I did say to you ages back, the reasons why you should use a local sim if you're using food delivery apps. And it isn't to with registration .....
---
Side note for all - Bolt has now launched locally, if you prefer yet another ride hailing app.
If it's any help, personally I'd stick with Careem or perhaps Uber. All these copycat or 'new' apps, how can they compete with the big boys? Chances are, they're the same drives in many cases...
Don't overlook Hala either, for one big reason - if you use Google Maps, put in where you want to go under 'directions' and click the icon of the man holding his. arm up, and it will automatically connect to hala app on your phone
