hey guys, my anniversary is coming up so looking to surprise the mrs so wondering any places near to ibn el jazar road which can bake me a anniversary cake?
I don’t live there but my wife lives there and I’m quite familiar with some places as I have travelled few times but not sure of any patisserie and the surprise was to turn up from uk ....anyways thanks I will check it out when I’m there
You could try to contact the Patisserie on AV Bourghib Habib. The one that does the ice cream.
Anyone readng this who is going to Tunisia on a birthday or anniversary ?
We travelled one time when a member of our party had her birthday during our stay.
So as a surprise,i arranged for the hotel chef to bake a cake.
I gave a couple of days notice for this with the restaurant manager.
When i tried to pay,the manager said "no charge, on the house! "
The chef and other staff made a fuss of this and all sang "Happy Birthday" at our table.
I did seek out the chef and his assistant later and gave them something.
They seemed very pleased, but a bit embarrassed.
The cake itself was so nice,we didn't want to cut it!
It was also so big,we shared it with guests at nearby tables !

Most if not all the hotels on check in take your passport details, so if you have a birthday during the duration of your holiday, the chances are you will be serenaded with Happy Birthday and a handbaked cake during your evening meal.. such a lovely touch
And so obliging are most if your celebrating something else.
It is a legal requirement for all Tunisian hotels to copy your passport details.
Modern hotels will scan the relevant page.
Back to cakes;-)
Yes ,you could be lucky that your birthday is noticed and a cake arrives on the night of the birthday
However if you want to ensure this happens,do ask.
I requested specific lettering on the cake that they would not have known otherwise.
As for wedding anniversaries.
The hotel wont know about that,of course, so you would need to arrange a celebration and cake with management.
The will also decorate the table for you with flowers.etc.

I do hope you find a good place to bake your cake.
The shop that Maenan mentions sounds good
Maenan knows the area well and i know she does her own food shopping when in Tunisia (unlike most of us who go hotel all inclusive)
I would say to others, if you have the time when on holiday and wish to have a cake baked ,do try and use a local baker,if one is nearby.
As Mick states,
Mention the birthday or anniversary to reception and they will only to pleased to make a cake and a big fuss at the evening dinner, they will all gather round and sing,
We had 3 when we were at Belleview Park and a right fuss was made,
