Danube Delta

we are traveling on our own in romana. We will visit Sighisoara, Crit, and Brasov on our own. We will end our time there in Bucharest. We want to see the Danube delta. Is it best to go to Bucharest and try to find a tour from there? If we travel to the region, can we find transport to see the wildlife, old towns, etc.? Any advice is appreciated.

How many days do you have for the Delta? It's best if you organize your trip yourself instead of taking a tour from Bucharest (it can get very expensive).

You should try to find accommodation somewhere in a village in the Delta or in Sulina (a town in the Delta by the sea). Take the bus from Bucharest to Tulcea, then from there the boat to wherever you are staying. Navrom (navromdelta.ro/program-nave.html#Grafic_Mai_…) operates such boats, as well as other smaller companies, but perhaps you can arrange with your accommodation to pick you up, depending on where you are staying.

From there take a boat day trip everyday (usually also through your accommodation provider, but you can also do it through other companies if they exist in the village you stay in) to the main sights in the Delta: the small canals (not the big branches), the lakes, the Letea and the Caraorman forest, Sulina, Sfântu Gheorghe, the traditional villages (like Mila 23), etc.
