What type of currency for taxi?

We need to take a taxi from the Nadi airport to the Turtle Airways seaplane base. On the website it says it should be about AU$9-14. Are we ok using AUD or will we need to get FJD when we land before taking the taxi.

You will need FJD. You can exchange money at the Western Union office at the airport in Nadi. No fees, and a much better exchange rate than at LAX. Should you plan on visiting a village, and want to purchase souvenirs, will also need FJD in small dominations.

You're welcome. Forgot to mention to confirm the price before getting into the taxi.

From the airport, you only have a choice of the "yellow" cabs really. All cabs should be fitted with a meter so this should be switched on as you hire the cab accordingly. From the airport, the flag fall starts at FJD$5. Their registration begins with - LT. You can still negotiate I suppose. Personally, I reckon that the meter provides an honest rate :)

All other cabs around Fiji have a flag fall of FJD$1.50 & $0.10 for every 100 meters (correct me if I'm wrong here). The flag fall increases to FJD$2.00 after 10pm till around 6am.

Enjoy your trip!
