Malolo Cat Questions

Hi All,

We are travelling to Plantation Island in October and I have a few questions.

Our flight arrives Nadi 11:20am. Bus leaves the Airport for the Port at 12:50pm.

1. 1 hour 30 minutes to get thru customs? is that achieveable?

2. As we are a family of 5 are there taxi's big enough to take us and our luggage to Port Denarau?

3. Does the Malolo Cat Office at Port Denarau have the abilty to store luggage? As we may have 3 hours to fill in we do not make the 2pm boat departure?

Thanks in Advance

I'd be really surprised if you hadn't cleared customs by 12.30ish (unless there is some sort of major hold up). Then getting to the office and checking in for the bus should be straight forward - it's not a huge airport and there are always lovely people around only too willing to point you in the right direction. If however, by some chance, you are running late then do the taxi thing (you'll find heaps waiting right outside and lots of them are operated by people who have more than one car available - let them know what you want and negotiate a good fare for your group. On arrival at the port you should be able to check your luggage in no problems. Fijians are all about making their tourists/guests have an easy time negotiating their way to where they're off to.

Have a lovely holiday on beautiful Malolo Island!!

Get a maxi taxi it will hold you all and wirth the money for peace of mind. You should be able to check your luggage in early at Denarau Marina if you miss the boat but that seems unlikely unless your flight is delayed.

I also think you should have no problems making the 2PM cat. But if you do miss it, I wouldn't rely on being able to check your luggage in. The Cat office is closed between sailings and there isn't really anywhere for them to store the luggage securely. If there is someone at the office they might let you leave the bags behind the counter.

Is there somewhere to have a drink/eat at the marina if arriving between ferry times?

Yes there are plenty of shops at the marina.

Many cafes at the Marina. Lulus near the check in is convenient if you have luggage you need to keep an eye on.

It's a humming little complex providing everything from a bakery and small supermarket to cafes, restaurants and a whole lot more. This is a good link to provide some info...

https://www.denarau.com/restaurants/

Everything is close by and there's lots of outdoor seating if you'd like to sit and watch the boats come and go. It's a fun place to settle in and pass a bit of time while waiting to board your transfer.
