Ngong Ping Cable Car Closed

Hi there,

We got to know that the Ngong Ping Cable Car will be closed from 17 August.

Can someone tell us if we can still use the Ngong Ping Cable Car on the 16 August? Will it be packed?

How long do you think we might need to spend time around this area?

Thank you.

Another option to consider to get from Causeway Bay to Tung Chung for the bus to Ngong Ping is to take the airport bus E11 which goes via Tung Chung. There's little time difference compared with the MTR journey, it avoids the lengthy MTR interchange between Central and Hong Kong Stations and rather than being entombed underground for most of the journey it gives you a scenic ride including the Tsing Ma Bridge. It operates every 15/20 mins starting from Tin Hau MTR station at Causeway Bay with other boarding points in Causeway Bay on Causeway Road outside HK Central Library (opposite Victoria Park) and Hennessy Road. Disembark at either of the first two stops after the bus has turned off the North Lantau Highway to enter Tung Chung from where it's about 3 mins walk to the bus terminus (adjacent to Citygate) for the number 23 service to Ngong Ping.

There is a bus terminus next to the Tung Chung MTR station. Follow the signs for the bus terminus. (Inside the station, look for the little buses on the exit signs.) Keep walking through the covered-over area to the open-air bus terminus, and that is where the number 23 starts.

Ngong Ping village bus terminus is the last stop for that line. So no worries about where to get off. Get on at the beginning and get off at the end.

Here's the timetable for number 23:
