Taxy Fares in Hong Kong

Hi Guys

Would like to know about the Fares of Taxy in Hong Kong

Is it Expensive?

If we're staying at Mini Central Hotel and wanna go to Madam Tussaud at The Peak Victoria by Taxy, how much it will cost? (just one way up only, go home by Tram)

If we go to around 13pm.. is it enough time to Explore Madam Tussaud, Sky Terrace and Chocolate Museum?

Any good restaurant there (budget wise)

Is there Starbucks there?

Do they have Gifts Shop?

Comparing with other large city, HK taxi is cheap.

About HKD 70-80. Just get on the taxi, tell your destination, watch the driver enabling the meter and go. NO and NEVER ask the price and whether the driver will go there or not.

Plenty of time. If you want to enjoy the night view as well, you may even adjust the visit time a little bit later.

Hi Hiro,

About HKD 70-80. Just get on the taxi, tell your destination, watch the driver enabling the meter and go. NO and NEVER ask the price and whether the driver will go there or not. ---> you mean I should asked the meter run right? no and never negotiate the price without meter?. but will they reject if we ask the meter go?

Normally they will start running the meter after you tell them the destination. NEVER negotiate price.

>>but will they reject if we ask the meter go?

Then ask him to take you to the nearest police station, or ask for help from policeman if there is one around you. Taxi driver who is refusing taking passenger is violating the law

Also, to save a few dollars and some time, when exiting your hotel do not get a taxi right outside (on Ice House Street) because then the taxi will have to take a longer and slower route trhough Central. Instead, walk about 100m forward past the Foreign Correspondents' Club and pick up a taxi outside the Fringe Club. It will then be able to turn right at the traffic lights and go allong Lower Albert Road, which is a shorter and quicker route.

In general, the restaurants at The Peak are a bit expensive (like any tourist-focussed area).

Here you will find the official taxi fares for HK

td.gov.hk/en/…index.html

Flag fall fee is HKD24 and includes 2km. After that every 200m or 1min waiting time are charged HKG1.7, rusulting in HKD8,50 per km. Not too expensive. A bit different for longer rides as km price goes down.

Surcharges for luggage, animals and tunnels + tunnel toll fees. Tunnel rides (to chross the harbour) can get a expensive.
