Visit Tian Tan Buddha without cable car

The Ngong Ping 360 cable car will stop running from May 11th to May 17th for repair. How can I visit Big Buddha without cable car? According to google map, it may take 3 hours ( one way ) from Central Station Hong Kong to Big Buddha using public transportation.

Take MTR from Hong Kong Station to Tung Chung Station.

Use Exit B and walk to Tung Chung Bus Terminus (2 to 3 minutes), take Lantao Bus #23 to Ngong Ping.

Use Exit D if want to take a Blue Taxi at official taxi stand outside the station. I think taxi fare is about HKD $180 for the same journey to Ngong Ping (transportation center).

Expect that the MTR ride from Hong Kong Station to Tung Chung is about 40 minutes or so. The bus or taxi rides from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping are about 40 to 60 minutes. So not quite 3 hours. Probably 2 hour - ish.

Or ferry to Mui Wo and take bus #2 to Ngong Ping. All the method mention by HF and me should NEVER take you 3 hours, but only 1-1.5 hours in normal circumstances.

Plus the fact that the cable car route also has the MTR ride, so is hardly instantaneous.

RE: Does MTR go from Central Station to Hong Kong Station ?

Central Station and Hong Kong Station are two different stations but are internally connected via pedestrian tunnels. You can walk between them. About 300 meters (~1000 feet) apart and there are travelators covering part of the way.
