60th birthday in The Maldives

hello, I'm turning 60 next year, November; I'd like to take my family to the Maldives for a week to celebrate. I'm doing a lot of research but i'd still like some suggestions from people that have been please. There will be 10 of us, all adults, travelling from the UK. We love the water so a home reef is important; I'm picking up the bill so all inclusive would probably be a good idea. Any ideas on a - resort suggestions and b- good companies to book through would be much appreciated, thank you.

I have had great service and prices from Magic of the Maldives and TravelLab, and other people very happily use Purely Maldives, Simply Maldives etc, to answer part b of the question.

Part a is a bit more difficult because, although AI and a house reef narrows it down somewhat, your approximate budget is going to be key as the variation between resort prices is enormous. It's worth giving a vague budget excluding the airfares as we don't know where everyone will travel from or what they (you!) will pay for flights, and also remember that transfers to islands vary quite greatly in price too, depending on whether you go by boat, seaplane or domestic transfer.

Hi

Budget is your starting point when researching your trip. As you have a large party I would contact a good specialist agent sooner rather than later.

We personally use Simply Maldives who are fantastic and I can also say we have enjoyed good service from Purely Maldives.

A stab on the dark for a large group of all ages would be..

Hi AlgarveSunman

Thanks for the "Helpful vote" on you question relating to Constance Moofushi, I'm glad you’ve come onto the forum as I am sure you will get lots of useful advice. As you see from the answers above there is agreement on some of the Travem Agent suggestions I made.

thank you for your replies, very helpful :) - budget - i'm a 'you can't be buried with your money' type of person so product takes precedence over price, but on the other hand we don't throw money at 'names' for the sake of it, so please suggest away with high quality ideas.

Well, in that case, we've just come back from a week at Outrigger Konotta and I'd say it ticks your boxes - an amazing house reef with some huge coral formations and some pretty huge sharks (plus turtles, and all other sea life you'd expect), plus all the villas have a private pool - great for water babies, an AI option which is all a la carte (not buffet)...and they are good at making big birthdays special! The villas are huge, private and very comfortable, the beach is beautiful, the wine and cocktails were good, all the staff were very attentive...

The downsides - some people would choose not to do a domestic plane transfer for a week, but we thought it was fine and would do it again.

Another vote from me for Outrigger Konotta for your special birthday; my husband and I visited in June and I'd second everything MalDiva has said. It really is wonderful from the marine life to the food, to the cocktails to the spa and from the semi sub and hydrotherapy pool to the villas (all with private pools) to the simply fabulous management team and staff. We celebrated our third wedding anniversary whilst on the island and were so spoiled, not only on the day, but throughout what for us was the most perfect trip.

I'd highly recommend enquiring about the Grand Konotta Villa for some of your party; it's a stunning two storey luxury "home" which sleeps up to six adults and has a wonderful deck and infinity pool. The bathrooms and bedrooms are gorgeous and there's even a formal dining table to sit you all. Butler service is included if booking the GKV and you can even have the chefs come and prepare a dinner in the villa for you.

I too wouldn't hesitate to do the domestic transfer for a week if visiting Konotta. It really does have an "away from it all" feeling that being closer to Male or on some other islands doesn't.
