Help needed! Choosing the island!

Hello everyone!

We are a couple in our late 30, please help us:

1/ we will be travelling in the beginning of March for 14 nights

2/ we would prefer a rather remoted island, with unspoilt nature

3/ we would prefer medium or small size island

4/ good house reef and quality snorkeling is a key point for us!

5/ no diving plans

6/ all inclusive is a must

7/ we would like a detached villa, beach or garden

8/ we have no children

9/ our budget is 10-12 K usd, excluding the plane tickets.

Huge thanks for your input in advance!!

Hi, welcome to the forum. As you will be travelling in March which is high season and as well as being the most expensive time many popular resorts are likely to be fully booked already. So I would suggest that you contact one of the recommended agents on this forum - we use Amit at Simply Maldives and others include Magic of Maldives, Purely Maldives and Travelab -

to see what is available within your budget. You can then come back to this forum with your shortlist for our thoughts.

Thanks a lot Moirad! We actually want to book directly with the hotel. Reethi beach looks as a good option for us, but as my husband has already been there we are thinking to have a look on a couple of alternatives.

I usually book direct anywhere else we go except for the Maldives where usually the specialist agents, listed above, get much better deals than booking directly with the resorts. If he has already been to Reethi Beach why not look at Reethi Faru which is a sister resort, newer and getting good reviews?

I second using an agent it’s usually much more cost effective than booking direct with resorts

I also second Reethi Faru this should be way below your budget however it is a larger island than Reethi Beach but has the same number of rooms

Hi Moirad,

I am from Australia. Do you know the best travel agent for me?

Why don't you try Outrigger Konotta or Amari Havodda, which are really remote islands in the southern atoll, very unspoilt, both getting very good reviews? Both new, 5*, good AI plan, modern detached villas, good snorkeling (especially Outrigger)

Whilst I love Outrigger Konotta and agree that it ticks all the OP’s boxes (with the added bonus of all villas having private pools) I think it would be over budget on AI in March. A quote on Purely Maldives website for an entry level beach villa on AI and including transfers is coming out at £13.5k in early March. I’d definitely recommend it if the budget could be stretched.

hi, I did not suggest Outrigger Konotta as it would be way the OPs budget for 14 nights in March.

Beachloverlisag, the agents noted will work with international clients. AddictedtoMaldives is a very good Australian Agent dealing in the luxury end if the market if that is applicable for you.
