Options for traveling to and from Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep?

Accommodation based in Thapae Gate Old Town area.

What are the different options and associated costs/time/pros/cons of each method?

Thanks

Get a tuk tuk to the zoo entrance at the end of Huay Kaew road. Then board a red truck (songthaew) which will go up when full. Climb the 300 stairs to Wat Doi Suthep temple. Going back down with any red truck into town, then tuk tuk back to your base. Simples. Or get a private car/taxi/driver to do it for more money.

If you're staying the Thapae area, I would suggest one the the closer redtruck queues. There is a walkable one at Moon Muang Rd ; Soi #7-ish . There is another at Chang Puak Gate. Its 50thb from any of the 3 queuing areas to the temple. As ChiangMaiBob says, they don't leave until they are full. It seems that they fill more quickly in the mornings, so try to go earlier rather than later.
