Bus travel - Nigeria to Ghana

Later this year I am looking to travel from Lagos to Accra by bus; visiting Lome and Cotonou along the way.

Following a quick Google search I've come across the following companies that offer coach transport:

ABC Transport

Chisco

Young Shall Grow

Does anyone know anything about these companies or are there others you would recommend?

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

My response is to the original question and then to the ignorance in the response offered by Rolyaaa:

1) I agree with ifeanyi2014. ABC is the best company to travel with via this route. They have very safe and reliable buses with very reliable schedules.

One caveat, though: this is a very long road trip. Perhaps 11 hours, if not more, and the scenery you will pass through is very boring all the way from Lagos till you get to Accra. I have taken many road trips in my life, and the scenery on this one was among the most ordinary and uninspiring.

Furthermore, this is not exactly a restful journey. You will need to disembark, cross on foot, and go through slow customs at the Ghana/Togo and Togo/Benin Republic borders. These are not stressful per se, and can actually be a nice way to break up the journey, and stretch your legs. The Benin republic/Nigeria border is kind of hectic and it's good to know that in advance.

Regardless, you will have fun as long as you plan for these challenges during your overland trip whether with ABC or any other tour company.

2) Rolyaaa is probably not the best person to consult in this matter as they seem not to know what they are talking about. You are travelling from Accra to Lagos which follows one of the most peaceful road routes i Africa. Africa is a massive continent of 54 countries, so until Rolyaaa can tell you why Africa in general is "not a pleasant plase (sic)," such advice is best ignored.

ABC all the way. Kindly be prepared for the uninspiring journey as there wouldn't be much sightseeing if any on the road. However, my children enjoyed the trip last December when we embarked on this journey.

ABC transport will take all border related burden off you, u hv nothing to worry about once they can carry you. Cheers

Thanks for your help everyone :-)

Does anyone know any information about the West Africa Visa Entente? I've read a bit of information on it but I'm not 100% sure on its cost and where I can obtain one before my trip.

I'd agree with much that has been said, travelled that route often. ABC pretty much developed the route for coach travel and have a regular schedule so you can be sure if anything were to happen ( bus troubles) they would have another come through 'soon' to pick up the slack. That said it's an extremely long uneventful journey sometimes topping 12hrs and the equipment isn't always tip top. But if your up to it it does have some appeal. Stopped once in Cotonou at the Novotel which was good value and providing a comfortable interruption to the monotony. If you choose Chisco from Ghana avoid the coaches. They leave late and tend to be filled with merchants which means issues at the borders. You would be asked for your immunization (yellow) card or a tip to have it overlooked. Coming back to Nigeria be aware you will arrive quite late at night if your not on the first bus service so make appropriate plans so as not to put yourself at risk. Accra on the other hand is relatively safer so is not so much an issue.
