Safari Holiday

ADVICE NEEDED: I would like to go 'on safari' - at the moment, time of year, duration and location are totally flexible, ideally I would like to spend a max of £3,000 pp all in (flights, taxes etc.) for 9+ nights, I'm not looking for luxury but neither do I want to rough it too much, I'm in my 50's and my husband is in his 60's. Where do you start when choosing? Please tell me about your good/bad experiences, companies, locations and general other advice that will help me to plan the trip of a lifetime. Thank you.

Sangha lodge has re-opened. And the owners/manager speaks english (as opposed to french). But CAR is not for the faint hearted. Poaching has also been horrific due to civil war and proximity to Sudan.
