1st time in Tunisia, looking for general info

Hi

We will arrive in Tunisia for 1st time at end of August and are just looking fot some info please. Do we need immunisation jags or visa travelling from scotland?

Also, any ideas of how much and how often to tip would be appreciated.

Do we need insect spray and if so what kind is best please.

sorry for all the questions but really looking forward to visting Tunisia and want to be organised.

thanks in advance.

Lynda.

You don't need any medical jabs but if you wan't reassurance go and see your local practice nurse at the doctor's, they are the best to give holiday advice,

No visa from Scotland or any part of the UK, ,

Tipping is a personal thing, if you get good service from staff and want to reward them tip in local currancy, it makes thing's easier for them, the amount is up to you,

Use the Hotel currency exchange for cash amount's

Take a mosquito spray that contain's deet and rub it in or it will just evaporate, therefore making it useless, use it at dusk, they are more hungry then,

enjoy your stay,

Forgot to mention,

If you take cash , take sterling not Bank of Scotland notes as some Currency Exchanges don't accept them,

Regarding the tipping ... you don't need to tip much, but they will appreciate it when you do. Costs are extremely low in Tunisia, so the tips are also little, proportionally. If you go to cafes where the locals go, where you will pay around 1 TDN for a coffee (= £ 0.30, at the current exchange rate, which is fabulous), it is customary to leave 100 millimes to the waiter (the locals do). If you leave 1 TDN anywhere, they will be very pleased. Obviously, the more you give, the better for them!! The minimum wage in Tunisia is around 400 TND per month ... which is not a huge amount, so every little helps.

As Alan said take Bank of England notes with you.

Scottish notes are accepted in some hotels.

Those ones being used to visitors from Caledonia !!

Many Scots do visit Tunisia.

On Scottish banknotes

Alan Yes, We have Bank of Scotland notes.

Also Royal Bank of Scotland and Clydesdale Bank notes.

Along with the Bank of England notes that is 4 we can use up here "!!

Worth pointing out

A Scotsman founded the bank of England -)

Here's tae us; Wha's like us?

Gey few. And they're a' deid ;-)
