Stars and Stripes tour

Anyone have any info on this tour to PH? Hubby and I are scheduled to take this tour during one of our days in Oahu and wanted to see PH, and thought this tour looked pretty good.

Anyone been on this tour?

Mahalo for the help!

I haven't done the tour, but I have been to all of the places on the tour.

USS Arizona Memorial, USS Missouri, Punchbowl and a couple other places.

All stops are nice.

You can do everything yourself for much cheaper (no narration though).

Hi Shortypots,

Yes we have done the Stars & Stripes tour (Roberts of Hawaii) twice !! The first time was in 2001, the second time was last year when we took relatives & friends to Hawaii. It was recommended to us at our Hotel tour desk the first time and because we thought it was great, we took everyone on the same tour last year.

The first stop is Pearl Harbour. The bus usually arrives around 8am, and after waiting in the que for your ticket (maybe 20mins) you then enter the memorial. On your ticket is a number for the movie screening, so while you wait you have plenty of time to see the gift shop, museum etc...then when you hear your number called you make your way to the short feature screening about the Pearl Harbour attack then board the boats to the memorial.

Upon return from the memorial your tour guide will meet with you and then take you to a shuttle which you board and head to the USS Missouri. Once you arrive there, you are taken on a 1hr guided tour inside & out of the Missouri. There is also a giftshop at Missouri. We spent all up about 2 hours at Missouri.

Lunch depends on your tour driver...it could be McDonalds, lunch aboard the USS Missouri galley cafeteria (small takeaway food) or somewhere else. We were given the option of the galley cafeteria or the outside cafe area in the USS Arizona carpark (they had a variety of different foods). Mum's driver took them to McDonalds !!

You then head towards Punchbowl Cemetery for a guided tour. It is a very pretty place with beautiful lawns, gardens & a fantastic view of Honolulu/Waikiki area and is only a short walk up the drive. The tour guides are volunteers and the history they tell is interesting as they walk you past the beautiful ceramic glass picture walls.

Roberts and one other tour company are the only 2 allowed to stop and tour the inside of Punchbowl.....others are only allowed to drive through !!

You then head your way back towards Waikiki to your hotel, passing some of the major buildings in downtown Honolulu eg. Illioni Palace, State Capitol Building etc..

Return is around 3.30pm - 4.00pm so it is a full day tour, but you will enjoy it and wont be disappointed.

Enjoy !!
