Itinerary help please

So many good ideas from this forum, we are a bit overwelmed. First trip to Costa Rica, only have 7 nights, arriving at SJO 11:30am after an overnight flight. (March)

Posts about Arenal & Monteverde sound great, (everything does actually) but if we'd like to visit 2 areas, 1 being Arenal, what other do you suggest?

Also, transportation we are thinking rent a car at the airport but would really be on vacation if we didn't drive so that is undecided too.

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

You might consider Arenal and a beach destination. One of the most interesting is Uvita - check www.tikivillas.com and look here www.govisitcostarica.com/region/city.asp…

I would suggest Arenal for 3 nights and the Manuel Antonio Rainforest and beach area for 4 nights. If you want to visit a 3rd area 2 nts in Arenal, 2 in Monteverde and 3 in Manuel antonio. You can rent a car or use shared transfers that are not so expensive

Dear Bellavista...

Nice that you are planning to visit us...WELCOME!!

You can drive the day of arrival to Arenal...about 3 hours nice road all the way...if you get here by 11;30am...you can easily be by Arenal by 4PM...no problema at all...you can also try to get a shuttle...or even a private driver...

From there you can take the Jeep-boat-jeep to Monteverde only $ 29.00 per preson and is a door to door service...

Maybe 2 nights Arenal...one night Monteverde...then the rst in Manuel Antonio National Park area...beach and wild life...and only 3 hours by car from San Jose SJO...

Also try to dealt directly with service providers...some fake travel agents or phantom tour operators ...ask for certifications...you really do not need any middle person...Costa Rica...is full of nice legal Travel Agents...

You can also do ...SJO...Arenal...Manuel Antonio...that will be nice and a little less moving around!

So I reserved 3 nights Arenal, (maybe a day tour to Monteverde?) 3 nights in Manuel Antonio. Night #7 is near SJO since the flight out is very early, 6am- ish.

Thank you for your great suggestions, now to work on transfers and looking at all the available tours.

You can do most transfers with Interbus, they offer shared shuttle service and it is a lot less expensive than private transfers.
