Hi, does anyone know the current cost of the water taxi from Chetumal to Ambergris and from Ambergris to CC.
Also how often do they run
Thanks in advance!!
I can "chime in" with an answer.
Two water taxi services operate on the Chetumal to AC route, and they run on alternate days (schedules are on their websites), so one boat per day.
Water Jets International is showing 1100 pesos one-way, and San Pedro Belize Express is showing US$50 one-way.
Two water taxi services operate between AC and CC.
Ocean Ferry has 5 runs per day. The website shows "from US$15".
San Pedro Belize Express has 8 runs per day, and the website shows an adult fare of US$18 one-way.
Hope that helps.Edited: 27 October 2018, 03:58
Thank you both for the information!
Do you have to pre-book online or it is generally ok to show up at the boat and buy a ticket?
For the Chetumal to AC water taxi, it might depend on the time of year, for example, Easter & Christmas might be busier than other times of the year (I have heard that the boat is sometimes full). I'd risk not booking, but my travel plans are usually flexible.
You shouldn't need to book the AC to CC boat in advance, but since you'll probably be on AC for a few days, it would be a good idea to buy the ticket(s) one day before the travel date to ensure a seat.
Ouch just read the TA reviews for the Water Jets boat from Chetumal ...pretty scary! Crowded, unsafe boats, captain drinking while driving and then tossing empty beer cans into the water, boats breaking down and getting beached by rookie drivers. 90 minute ride almost always leaves late and takes closer to 5 hours once you finally get through immigration.
Anyone have these same experiences?
