Hotel in New Jersey an option?

Hi,

as NYC seems to be real pricey, we are considering a hotel in New Jersey.

Any suggestion for a nice, may be quiet, place with easy transportation to Manhattan? Or is it worth the price to be right in NYC?

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

New Jersey is a state, not a town. You'll have to be more specific.

This is the general forum for New York State. NYC has a very active sub forum: tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g60763-i5-New_York…

NJ is a big state. Some areas are fairly convenient to NYC and some aren't (even when they claim to be). There are other inexpensive alternatives outside of Manhattan, but still in NYC and a quick subway ride away.

Hotel prices fluctuate by exact date. Repost to the NYC forum and let members know your 1) exact travel dates 2) number of people and number of beds needed, 3) target budget per night, 4) which airport you are using and they can advise you about good options. Hotel prices fluctuate, which is why exact dates are important. If you are going to stay outside of Manhattan, it should be in an area convenient to your airport or you may incur a lot of time and cost getting there.

Whether it's worth the price to stay in Manhattan depends on how expensive it is for your dates.

Hi Rhonda,

this sounds very much like what I´m looking for.

Can you give me some more information about transportation to Manhattan? Maybe some link to find schedules an stations?

Thank you very much

Hi silkebg, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. The hotel provides a shuttle to the train station in Ridgewood. The kids love the train, there is also bus 163 that runs express from the lot next to the hotel to the city. Remeber that you CANNOT use a Metrocard on the New Jersey system. Here is the link.

There are much more convenient areas of New Jersey than Paramus. If you repost in the NYC forum as suggested, you'll get other suggestions.
