Snake River & other fun things in Idaho

Hi all. I'll be passing thru Idaho, hopefully twice, on my way out to WA and OR. I'm wondering about some great things to do in ID. I will be first going thru on my way from Glacier to Seattle, and then coming back later from OR to Idaho along the Snake River part of the way.

Also, what is the best part of the Snake River to take for scenery, nature, and maybe some old towns? I can modify my route based on anything good that pops up.

I like to stay a night in each state, and I am probably going to camp - maybe going to do that on my first trip thru. Thanks!

Have you read any forum post about the specific areas you will be traveling thru. Very helpful, then come back and let us know to fine turn your trip.

You may want to consider spots along the Salmon River as well - Stanley, Challis, Salmon Idaho - not sure if those locations fit at all with your plans.
