Bus / Coach San Francisco to Los Angeles

Would like to hear people's feedback regarding coach trips between SF and LA.

We're primarily looking to just do the journey straight out & have found CA Shuttle Bus which would pick us up in Powell St & drop us off in Hollywood which is ideal - price good too. Has anyone done this?

Also considering something with a one or 2 night stop over if anything well recommended, though not sure about idea of getting train part of way - we'll be travelling with 2 pcs of luggage each, so what to keep it simple...

Any advice and prev experiences appreciated! Thx

There's lots of places to stop, but it will depend on which route the bus takes. Do you know if it's straight down the freeway, or along the coastal route?

Any thoughts on hiring a car? The coastal route is awesome and there's so much to see.

Trek America have a 3 day coastal tour from San Francisco to Los Angeles through their sister company Great American Adventures. I cannot offer feedback because I am not going until September, but Trek do get some good reviews on here.

Santa Barbara is a lovely place to stop. The train station is right in the center of town, so is the Greyhound station for that matter. Monterey would be another good place to stop, though you'd have to transfer in Salinas to a local bus.
