Visiting kakadu from uk, how long?

We ave booked or flights for august 2013, me, my husband, my sister and two kids both age 10. We fly into Darwin and out of cairns 16 nights later. We would like to see Uluru too as well as really explore the reef. We love national parks, history, wildlife etc. Should I stay in Farsi or in kakadu? What are the top sees in the area? How many nights where etc?

Grateful for any help at all!

Hi

We spent 12 nights in the NT in July this year & I would recommend staying in Kakadu. We stayed 3 nights at Jabiru, but with hindsight should have stayed 2 nights Jabiru, 1 night Cooinda to be able to do the sunrise yellow water cruise.

This is my trip report - might help your planning a little tripadvisor.com.au/…42590684

That Go list goven above is a bit outdated - 2008!

We visited Darwin & Uluru last year. My recommendation for 16 nights would be: Darwin 4 nights (do Litchfield as a day trip), Kakadu 3 nights (I like Mia's suggestion to split 2 nights Jabiru, 1 night Cooinda) Uluru 2 nights, Cairns

7 nights.

Wow what a friendly bunch down under! Thanks for the great replies. I had thought of more time in the GBR area as kids love beach etc. I need more days!!! Will have a good look at all suggestions, that will keep me busy for a couple of days!!

I'm a bit confused about your mention of Farsi - I thought that was a Persian (Iranian language?

Tescoqueen - there is no place in Australia called "Farsi", which was part of your first post.

Perhaps it was a typo, or part of this frustrating " auto correct" function which can make a nonsense out if many things because if it's limited vocabulary.
