Where to stay between Devils Marbles and Kakadu

On Our way North we've booked a night at Devils Marbles. Can we get to Kakadu without having to stop over for a night somewhere? If we should stop for the night, where should we do so? And what hotel inside the park is the most easy to reach when coming from the South?

Travelling by car, with two boys (12 and 15).

Any help greatly appreciated by Norwegian Family coming in July

It may be helpful if you can outline the rest of your trip in the NT so we know what you will have done or what you want to do.

However- Karlu Karlu- where are you staying there as the National Park camp ground can not be booked.

It is too far to reach Kakadu in one day, and if you did you would be missing Mataranka -Bitter Springs, and Katherine Gorge, Edith Falls.

I would stop at Mataranka for the night or Katherine and enjoy the area for a few days.

In Kakadu there are only two places you can stay with hotel accommodation - Cooinda Lodge or a few places with cabins and a hotel in Jabiru.

How many days have you allocated for the trip ?

We have a total of four weeks in Australia, and we are driving from Adelaide to Darwin. We have five nights to plan in total between Devils Marbles and Darwin. Way to little obviously. Not yet sure where to spend those nights, but trying to fins places resembling lodges that we know from Southern Africa. Maybe nothing of that kind in NT, I don't know (yet). The kids want to see crocks.

You will be dissapointed then. There are a few places like Wildman , or Bamurra.

Kakadu and surround nothing like africa in terms of animals roaming etc.

You really havent allowed enough time sadly so you will have tao make some big compromises.

For crocodiles, stick to a yellow waters cruise or wetlands cruise or jumping croc on tje adelaide river.

Be warned though that you must not swim anywhere which is not signposted as safe. Do not stand on river banks or boat ramps looking for them. They will see you and you will not know what got you.

Do you have to drive fome adelaide ? Can you alocate more time ?

Dont' worry, we know Australia is not Africa. Your country is way too big, you know, and compromises have to be made. Same thing With Aussies going to Europe! I don't worry about being dissapointed!
