Margaret River for 5 adults

Dear friendly experts of TA,

We are a family of 5 adults from Singapore and plan to visit Margaret River on 2nd & 3rd January. Appreciate your advise on the feasibility of our itinerary. Any feedback is appreciated.

1 Jan (Wed) - At Swan Valley area.

Where should we stay at? Was thinking of The Limes at Toodyay but it seems far for a drive for next morning trip to MR winery tour at Voyager. Should we stopover for a night at Dunsborough? We are looking for a clean, decent hotel, not too expensive.

2 Jan (Thur) - Drive to Voyager Estate for winery and tour (which starts at 11am). Check in at Margaret River Hideaway & Farmstay. Dinner at Morries Anytime.

3 Jan (Fri) - Visit Cottage Cafe Berry Farm, Lake Cave. Stay at Margaret River Hideaway & Farmstay.

4 Jan (Sat) - Check out at Farm. Head back to Perth CBD.

Thank you for your time. Look forward to all suggestions/feedback!

If you haven't booked at this stage, you could well be in trouble. That time of year is very busy in WA as kids are out of school and on the road with their parents.

At this point I suggest you look around for accommodation and then go from there.

Note that some wineries close for several weeks between Christmas and mid-Jan.

I also agree find your accommodation first & then work out your itinerary. Jan is our very busy summer school holidays & all places along the coast in Australia are very busy.

On the subject of accom, what will also make it harder is many places in the MR region have a minimum 3 night stay. Some even have longer over school holiday periods.

I would suggest you will have more options by increasing your stay in MR for 3 nights and omit the overnight stay at The Limes as per your other thread. You can easily drop the Swan Valley visit (as planned on your other thread) if all you were planning on doing is wine/chocolate/nougat/lavender...etc. The MR region has all of these attractions too.

Thanks everyone! We booked 2 nights at Margaret River Hideaway. The only accommodation left is for 1 January (to replace The Limes). Am trying to find a clean hotel at Mandurah before heading down to Magaret River.

Besides Lake Cave, Voyager Estate tour and tasting, cape lavender at MR, any more suggestions for places of interest?

Thank you!
