JBR - 7 Days, Hobart to Launceston via West Coast.

Just thought this may help some people who are considering a similar trip. To begin i will say we had an absolutely awesome time in Tassie.

Day 1: Arrived in hobart, hired a car (Apex) and we were on the road by 10am. Drive to New Norfolk. Had a bite to eat at Patchwork cafe and then had a look around Willow Court and the town. Next stop was The Wall. Really interesting and worth the stop. (Scones at the cafe were amazing). We then had a quick stop at frenchmans cap carpark and took a short walk down to a suspension bridge. Next we stopped at Iron Blow lookout which was definitely something to see. We pulled into Queenstown about 5pm. We stayed at the Queenstown Motor Lodge which was adequate with a good location. Had dinner at the Empire Hotel which was good and slept well as it was a big day (woke up at 3.30am that morning)

Day 2. Breakfast at Tracks then train at 9am. We went in the Wilderness carriage which was well worth the extra money. We loved this trip to dubbill barrill and back. Got back at 1pm and then had another tour booked at 1.30pm with Roam Wild. Another excellent tour. From saw mills to mines to forest walks, to hydro plant tours and old houses and was very informative and a great use of time. Got back ro Queenstown about 4.30pm and then drove to Strahan. Arrived at Strahan Village in the dark. Accomodation was good. Ate at Hamers. Slept well after another big day.

Day 3. Heritage river cruise from 9am until about 3pm. Sarah island a highlight. That night we went to the play "the ship that never was". Absolutely brilliant.

Day 4. Left Strahan for Cradle Mountain. Stopped into Zeehan (unfortunately a waste of time and very sad to see what has happened here after the mines closed. However fingers crossed, change could be ahead). Stopped in to Rosebury to get supplies before getting to Cradle. Arrived at Highlanders and our cottage was amazing. Went over to vistor centre, down to interpretation centre and had dinner at the Tavern at Peppers which was good and nice and warm.

Day 5: walked ronny creek to dove lake and then walked a bit around the lake but didn't do the circuit. That night we went to Devils at cradle which was good and had dinner at Cradle mountain hotel (Altitude) which was great.

Day 6: Left Cradle for Launceston via Sheffield(good stop) and then Deloraine. Arrived at Air Bnb (sweetbrew) which was very good. Did tbe Boags brewery tour. Which was good. As my other half drink beer i had 6 pots in about 15 minutes, so i don't remember much after that. Only kidding. Dinner at a local pub then off to the footy. CARN HAWKS. Bloody cold night.

Day 7: Flight not until 8pm so things to do?? We went past Franklin house but didn't go in. Went to Jasof Chromy winery for some taste testing. Was a beautiful estate. Then went to Brikendon estate which was very interesting. Went past Woolmers estate but didn't go in (running out of money) and it was late. Stopped in at Perth and had early dinner at Sticky Beaks in Longford which hit the spot. Quick trip to the airport and it wad all over. Thanks Tassie. Until we meet again.
