The next Isa Rodeo will be the 60th Jubilee Anniversary Rodeo held over four days from 9-12 August, 2018. There is a Swag City onsite at Buchanan Park (10 mins from the CBD) where the rodeo is held, which takes caravans, camper trailers etc, plus there are caravan parks in Mount Isa itself. Plenty of info on www.isarodeo.com.au plus you will be able to book rodeo tickets, powered or unpowered sites at Swag City online closer to the date.

There is a choice of Gold Class (reserved) seats or general seating at the rodeo itself. It's fun to get into the spirit and wear rodeo type clothing (western shirt, jeans, an Akubra and boots and you can't go wrong!). A wide brimmed hat and sunscreen is a must as temperatures can reach 30 degrees, but with cooler mornings and overnight. The whole of Mount Isa gets in the rodeo spirit and there's plenty to see and do, including a bush poets breakfast, Mailmans horse races, an underground hospital, Hard Times Mines Tour at Outback at Isa, a picnic or bbq at Lake Moondarra 20 minutes out of town.
