Will you have a car?

If so, you can do trips to places such as kangaroo valley. You will also have some wineries to visit.

The northern suburbs of Wollongong are the nicest, some of the beaches are very pretty eg Austinmer. Couple of good cafes as well. If you're driving then maybe drive the sea bridge at Coalcliff. There is a stopping point at the southern end on the sea side. A little further north the view from Stanwell Tops is lovely on a sunny day.

Further south, as Big Jim has indicated, there's the option of a day trip to Kangaroo Valley. You can incorporate stops at Berry and Kiama on the way.

Wollongong also has a variety of good restaurants along Corrimal Street eg Vietnamese, Lebanese, Indian, Thai.

You are on the hospital, side so walking,at be a challenge as you are up the hill

My fave restaurants is Ha Long Bay. I've heard good things about cavau but haven't dined there as yet

The best breaks places are down in the mall and along the beachfront

You may need to drive

Things to do are endless

Sandygoodwhich is right near you on crown street if you head up the hill a very short distance. They have an amazing array of wonderful sandwiches that will absolutely blow you away. They are fresh and delicious. Also there coffee is fantastic. Don't forget the green bus 55A & 55C is a free bus which will take you on a clockwise and anticlockwise tour of the city. You can get quite a distance on the bus. There is a wonderful walk along the Wollongong beach front which even with a walkers aide you will appreciate easily. There is great coffee spots and lovely food along the beach front. Levendi, Harbour Front Restaurant, pepes is great for afternoon or breakfast just to name a few. Enjoy Wollongong it's a lovely town .
