Wollongong - Bike Hire/Rental

Hi,

I'm planning for a visit to NSW this coming November. Looking at 1 night at Wollongong

and most likely will be staying at Quality Suites Pioneer Sands (19 Carters Lane | Towradgi, Wollongong).

One of the activity we are considering is cycling along the "Wollongong To Thirroul Bike Track".

How easy is it to rent bikes for this purpose ?

Are there many shops to choose from and which one is recommended ?

We will need 2 bikes for adults and 3 bikes for children (age 4, 10 and 12).

Thanks !

Not much option for hire at Towradgi (unless someone new has opened)

The only place iknow to get a bike si through spin way at the novotel

There used to be a hire place in the harbour years ago..

the other one was mobile bikes but their webbie now advertises soap???

That's bad news :(

I was hoping there are some around that are not on the web cos I can't find any as well except the 2 you mentioned and mobile bikes seems out of biz ?

So sad that the "Wollongong To Thirroul Bike Track" ranked as #2 thing to do in Wollongong but lack

of bike rental means tourist can't enjoy the activity.

did you google....maybe try this - they bring the bikes to you

There also seems to be a bikeshare operation at the Novatel hotel

Well, realistically it was always optimistic to find bike hire in Towradgi. It really is a very suburban destination.

It should be quite easy to get to the Novatel. Are you driving? If not, you can just walk to Fairy Meadow and get the free shuttle.

A quick google shows that Spinway appears to have bicycles that would suit your kids.

dytokyo, inas66,

Thanks for your info. Yes I did and as mentioned by GurusW as well, the website for that company (Mobile Bike Rental) is now selling soap and nothing on bikes :(

I'm also aware of Spinway at Novotel - found it by googling but it seems they only have 4 bikes there and some users reported problem with the bikes.

GurusW,

The MS Sydney Gong website stated 1 Nov for the 2015 ride and I will only be in Australia starting 8 Nov. So shouldn't be an issue - thanks for the heads up though :)

There is South Coast Bike Hire operating a drop off and pick up hire service. They are mobile and offer customised hire.
