Easiest way is south down the A1 highway to Bridgewater, then west through New Norfolk.
Or you could go down the highway as far as Melton Mowbray, then via Bothwell and the B110. This is scenic, but there are winding sections as well.
1.5 to 2 hours is about right.
Thank you - love having both options so we can decide how we feel on the day.
If we had the time, I was thinking of taking a detour from Bothwell to go to the Nant Distillery. Has anyone been there? Thoughts?
Nant is definitely worth a visit and has a good small restaurant in the summer months. Bothwell is also the home of Australia's oldest golf course on Ratho homestead and the golf museum (in different locations), but it's a small village overall.
The B110 from Bothwell toward New Norfolk is one of Tasmania's best drives. But it can be a little difficult to find its beginnings in Bothwell. You may need to stop and ask a local. :)
If you are happy to go via Bothwell, I'll also mention that it's probably the nicest way to go. It'll cost you a few extra minutes, but time spent off the highway is seldom wasted. :)
