I would go with the Reef View Hotel, they have elevators and the rooms are quite open with a secure balcony.

There are some properties on HI that cater are baby friendly. I've just had a look at www.hamiltonisland.biz website and there is the Lagoon #8 which is listed under the 2 bedroom luxury apartments. Here is what it says:

Baby & Toddler Friendly Apartment in Paradise

Premium Two Bedroom Two Bathroom ground floor private apartment overlooking Catseye Beach & ocean on Hamilton Island with 4 seat golf buggy.

Imagine a holiday where you didn’t have to spend 2 days packing, unpacking & child proofing before you start to relax. At Lagoon 008 we’ve thought of everything to make your trip with small children a ‘holiday’, not a major project.

Items include; Portacot, Secure Bed rail, Sensor Night Light, Highchair, Baby bath with newborn bath support & change table, Toddler bath seat, pram & shield, Rocker, Activity centre for newborn and toddler, Playpen, rubber matting, Bucket & spade, UV sun dome, Books & bottle steriliser. Please Ask for FULL list of Baby Equipment.

Built up high allows stunning views although it is a ground floor apartment , it has a magnificent Patio, an outdoor setting, BBQ and sun lounges.

The apartment is fully self-contained, fully air-conditioned and includes a fully equipped kitchen and laundry. All crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, linen and bath towels are supplied. (You need to bring your own beachtowels). There is a TV (Austar), Video player, DVD unit and Stereo with CD player in the living room.

The master bedroom, which opens on to the balcony, has a king size bed, TV (Austar), Video unit and dressing room with ensuite. The second bedroom is bright and sunny and has a Queen and a single bed. There is a Foldaway bed, cot and high chair.

You have access to all resort facilities including water sports and the Kids Clownfish Club (Charges Apply). In addition to the resort pools, all guests and residents of these apartments have the use of Frangipani and Hibiscus private swimming pools, spa and two private barbeques.

They are located on the beachside of the island. You will have your own golf buggy to get around the island - so you wont have to walk too much! However, the walk from the apartment to the marina side of the island will only take you about 10 mins and there is a slight hill.

Otherwise check out the main HI website: www.hamiltonisland.com.au for other baby friendly apartments. I booked with www.hamiltonisland.biz last year and they were great. Private meet and greet at the airport, where they wait for your bags with you and then show you your golf buggy (all there at the airport) and you follow them to your room. They will show you around the room and will leve a contact number for you during your stay to contact them (they are based on the island). I was quite happy with the level of service! On departure, you give them a call the night before you leave, they will tell you what time they will collect your bags and what time you will need to check out of your apartment. If no-one else is coming into the apartment that day, then generally you can have the room til about 1.5hrs before your flight. They then take your bags and meet you back at the airport so you can give them back your golf buggy and check in for your flight home.

Hope you have a great holiday!!

Yes I would recommend ground floors units in Hibiscus, Lagoon or Frangipani .. these apartments are all situated along catseye beach so you can walk down onto the beach without the need to drive there in your golf buggy .. they are very convenient if you happen to forget something when at the beach and it is easy for a parent just to pop back and get it

Hibiscus have their own fenced pool and Lagoon shares theirs with Frangipani .. Frangipani's pool is also fully fenced .. check out google earth and you get a great idea of where they are all situated .. these are all 2 bedroom apartments (with a few 3 bedroom available) on one level with absolutely no steps

Lagoon sounds particularly well kitted out but lots of other apartments have a range of baby items included with the apartment

All these apartments have a private road at the front between them and the beach which makes it ideal for walks with the bub .. I have taken 2 of my small grandchildren since they were 6 months old .. as they get up early .. of course.. their mum enjoyed walking them even as far as the Marina .. there is a small hill which is a bit of a killer and whilst I wouldn't be able to make it .. she seemed to really enjoy it and would come back with fresh bread rolls for breakfast

The kids absolutely love it and I have never heard a family say that it wasn't one of their best holidays .. particularly having the golf buggy

Make sure that who ever you book with that you get the apartment you wanted.. I once met a young couple who had booked a ground floor but on arrival it was unavailable so they were put on the 2nd floor .. very unhappy

Also check out www.stayz.com.au as their are over 280 properties listed .. all with photos and calendars .. you can put in the dates you require and it will show which apartments are vacant for that period

The personal service you receive on the island when you book an apartment makes it very special .. as Barina points out, they all have personal meeting service and it is nice to have someoneone a 1 to 1 basis to answer any questions you may have

All the new electric golf buggy's have seat belts but their are still a number of petrol ones which are still to be retired .. most parents dont use car seats and normally nurse the baby.. if you want to use a child seat you will need to check whether one is provided or you bring your own .. all golf buggy's have regulators on them to prevent them being driven very fast

You can also get groceries delivered from the mainland .. we always had nappies sent over plus lots of little things that babies require in the way of food .. we also get water as though the water is very safe to drink, I never really liked the taste so we get 10 - 15 litres in a plastic container which is kept in the fridge

Bouganvillea pool is also a great pool for kids as it is right beside the beach and their is a small rocked off area which suits small children

There is also a small playground behind the main pool plus the clownfish club if you wanted a bit of time on your own .. it caters for babies from 6 weeks and 4+ really enjoy it especially the activities

The pizza restaurant is very popular with families because there are so many and as most tend to eat early, you dont feel you have to be on them all the time to keep the noise down and sit still .. also Sails at the main resort caters to families

With ground floor apartments you dont need baby gates as all apartments have fly screens to the patio and the bedrooms can be closed off so it only leaves the living area .. you will have a wonderful time especially when the kids are in bed and you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine with the wonderful view before you

We stayed at Frangipani 004 and it is extremely kid friendly...

It has a baby cot, and pram, ithas buckets and spades as well.

The apartment is single story, fully renovated and on the ground floor so you have access to the lawn out the front.
