Scheduling a GBR Tour

How far out do you typically need to schedule a GBR tour for November? We’re planning on doing the day tour to the outer reef with Quick-Silver for 6 people.

Quicksilver is a big boat. In November, which is out of peak season, you should be able to book for the following day.

I see in your ther post that you're planning to stay in Cairns. In that case, have a look at Reef Magic, so you can avoid the one-hour trip to Port Douglas first thing in the morning to catch Quicksilvef.

Reef Magic is essentially the same thing as Quicksilver—boat that goes to a large fixed pontoon on the Outer Reef. They have snorkeling, glass-bottom boat, semi-submersible and an underwater viewing area. See: http://www.reefmagiccruises.com/

My understanding was that Quick-Silver was he only one who went to the outermost reef, i.e. the Agincourt. Is this correct?

Agincourt is not the only reef on the outer reef.

There are lots of different reefs on the “Outer Reef”. Many tourists get hung up with Agincourt Reef because that’s the one they’ve heard of. I’ve had many excellent snorkel trips to the Outer Reef and not one of them has been to Agincourt Reef.
