bus service from Shannon airport to Galway?

My daughter who lives in the states is wanting to fly into Shannon and take the bus into Galway to meet with her sister who will be traveling from Munich. This is the first time for both to be in Ireland. They want to be there over St. Patrick's day. Two questions - 1) Is there bus service from Shannon airport to Galway? and 2) Would Galway or Dublin be the place to be over St. Patrick's day?

They are in there 20's. Thanks for your information.

Yes, one can get bus from SNN to Galway and while the parade in Dublin will be bigger, there are festivities throughout the country and locals everywhere will be more than happy to help your daughter and her sister to drown the shamrock. Here is the timetable for the national bus service from SNN to Galway. www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1272287885-51.pdf it leave 5 to the hour every hour and takes less than 2 hours. The cost is E13.50 for an adult single.

I would opt for the Galway parade or even Limerick rather than travelling cross country. Remember that it is not just a day but a week of festivities.

Linn, you can rest assured that your daughter will have no problem on the Shannon-Galway bus service. It is one of the best services in this part of the country.

She will board the bus right outside the terminal building and be dropped right in the centre of Galway city.

As to the parade, I think a lot depends on how much time they have and what they are looking for.

As Tony says, the Dublin parade is much bigger, but have a look at tony2's links and you will see the celebrations in the other cities as well.
